Photos: ‘Ready to fight journalist’ wards off angry Obinim supporters with camera

Ghanaian Times reporter used her camera as weapon to ward off some angry supporters of the embattled man of God, Bishop Obinim who tried to beat her this morning at the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters.
Anita Nyarko Yirenkyi attempted to take a photograph of Florence Obinim, wife of the Bishop, who was in the company of some well built ladies and stout men whilst they were about to leave the police Headquarters.
Her husband, founder and leader of the God's Way International Church had been arrested and transfered from the Tema Police Command to the CID Headqaurters on charges of fraud. He was subsuquently detained at the Nima police cells where he spent the night.
Mrs Obinim had gone to the Police Headquarters in the company of some church members to support her husband and show solidarity. They were in no mood to entertain nosy journalists who had come to cover the story and take pictures, something Anita Yirenkyi had come to do.
As soon as Yirenkyi positioned herself ro take pictures, one of the ladies shouted at her and warned her not to take pictures by men and women suspected to be bodyguards of the Bishop and his wife.
It is not clear if Yirenkyi was successful in taking any picture but the body guards moved swiftly in her direction with threats to slap her. Anita Yirenkyi surprisingly appeared ready for battle, with her camera in hand as a weapon, shouting  "Come I will hit you with the camera."
But she was outnumbered and sensing danger she made a retreat; her attackers who saw some uniformed police men advancing from a distance abandoned their intention to attack. They however rained insult on reporters.
Some of the supporters displayed the Bishop’s photos calling him an angel while others were shouting "No Obinim, no votes."
